I ___ to the cinema last night.

What does English level B1 mean?

B1 is the intermediate level of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) and marks the start of independent language use. At B1 you understand the main points of clear standard English on familiar topics from work, school and leisure. You can deal with most situations while travelling, describe experiences and plans, and briefly give reasons for your opinions.

This B1 placement test is for learners with a solid foundation who want to know whether they have reached the intermediate level — for example before starting a Business English course. The test has 20 questions, is free, requires no registration, and shows your result immediately.

After the test you will know exactly where you stand: Simmonds Language Services has offered Business English courses with native-speaking trainers since 2004, online and in person in Hannover and Berlin.
