The Simmonds Virtual Classroom

The virtual classroom is Simmonds' own online teaching room. Instead of just sending a video-call link, the group works in a fixed environment with course materials, practical tasks and a native-speaking trainer who leads the session live. Participants see each other, talk to each other and practise real work situations – phone calls, meetings, presentations – as if in one room.

Technically, the room is provided by Avalern (powered by Avalern). In terms of content, methodology and staffing, Simmonds carries the responsibility: the trainers are native-speaking Simmonds trainers, the materials come from the booked training, and the small groups stay at the same CEFR level.

The virtual classroom is aimed at existing Simmonds clients: it is part of the booked training and not an open sign-up. Anyone who has already booked a company course or one-to-one training with Simmonds works in this room with their trainer and their group.

Teams that would like to join are those that corporate training with Simmonds. For individuals, the classroom is not available as a separate product – here we recommend one-to-one lessons.

A pure video-call link has no materials, no structure and no group control – it ends when the meeting ends. A self-study app, in turn, sets tasks but has no trainer who corrects live, asks questions and responds to answers. Only a real classroom offers both together – live-led teaching plus embedded materials.

In the Simmonds virtual classroom, the native-speaking trainer sets the direction, the materials sit in the room, and speaking practice is supplemented by the AI avatar. This creates live teaching – not a self-study app, not an open video call.
